Srirangam Festivals are total of 322 days,. monthly and yearly ceremonies, which commemorate all the Srirangam festivals in the Temple calendar. The most important of these ceremonies, and one of the most famous in Southern India, is that of Vaikuntha Ekadasi, which lasts 21-. days in December and January. Preparations for it begin towards the end of October with the erection of the first pillar (a coconut tree trunk) of the pandal built for the occasion, which has 47 pillars when completed. This panaal is .erected in the north-east court of the third enclosure, before the Hall of a Thousand .Mirrors.
The god is brought there in procession, passing through the northern gate of the second enclosure, which is closed all the year round and opened only on this occasion. The statues of the holy Alvars and Acharyas are brought one by one and set out near the god under the mandapa in the centre of the hall.
