Chaturthi Viratham (or Chaturthi Vrat) is a Hindu religious observance dedicated to Lord Ganesha, observed on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of both the waxing (Shukla Paksha) and waning (Krishna Paksha) phases of the moon in the lunar calendar. The most prominent Chaturthi vrat is Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrated with great fervor to honor Lord Ganesha's birthday. Additionally, people observe Sankashti Chaturthi (during the Krishna Paksha) and Vinayaka Chaturthi (during the Shukla Paksha) monthly. Devotion to Ganesha: Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, is worshiped to seek blessings for success, prosperity, and peace. Sankashti Chaturthi: Observed to eliminate difficulties (Sankat) and invoke Ganesha's grace. It typically involves fasting and praying at moonrise. Vinayaka Chaturthi: A time to seek new beginnings and pray for overall success and happiness. On Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi (when Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday), the vrat is considered especially auspicious. During Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival spans several days, culminating in the immersion of the idol (Ganpati Visarjan).
